Namwon-si, Nationwide First to Promote 'Disaster Preparedness Safety Insurance for Low-Income Families'

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 7th that it will promote the Happiness Plus Safety Insurance subscription for disaster preparedness of low-income residents nationwide for the first time in collaboration with the post office.

The "Namwon City Low-Income Residents Happiness Plus Safety Insurance" is a product that provides compensation up to 20 million KRW for consolation money in case of death, surgery, or hospitalization due to disaster or injury.

The city decided to provide this insurance free of charge to about 2,500 basic livelihood security recipients aged between 15 and 65.

Earlier, to fully promote the Happiness Plus Safety Insurance project, the city signed a business agreement with Namwon Post Office on December 13 last year for the new project and held a briefing session for the responsible officials on the same day.

Accordingly, starting from the 17th, applications and reviews can be processed one-stop at the Eup, Myeon, and Dong administrative welfare centers, allowing residents to receive services conveniently without visiting Namwon Post Office.

The Happiness Plus Safety Insurance premium for low-income residents is calculated to be between 32,700 KRW and 43,700 KRW per person.

This premium amount is the sum of 10,000 KRW borne by Namwon City and the post office subsidy (22,700 KRW to 33,700 KRW per person), enabling subscribers to enroll in the insurance without any separate burden and enjoy the benefits through this support.

A city official said, "We have prepared the safety insurance as a policy to prepare for sudden life crises of low-income residents," and added, "Eligible residents are encouraged to bring their ID cards and visit the administrative welfare centers on the dates announced by each Eup, Myeon, and Dong to receive the benefits."
