Corruption Cases Zero! ... Ulsan Office of Education Exempted from Nationwide Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education was the only one among the 17 education offices nationwide to be excluded from the 2021 Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation by receiving the benefits of an excellent integrity institution.
This is the first time since the evaluation began in 2002 that the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has been selected as an excluded institution.
The education office stated, "We analyze this as a result of Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education's integrity and corruption prevention level being recognized externally."
The Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation is a system that evaluates the appropriateness and effectiveness of anti-corruption activities of public institutions over one year, and excellent institutions are exempted from the policy evaluation.
The results of the 2021 Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation are expected to be announced within this month.
The requirements for excellent integrity institutions excluded from the evaluation are institutions with a comprehensive integrity rating of grade 2 or higher for two consecutive years, no penalty points for corruption incidents for two years, and a grade 2 or higher in the 2020 Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation.
Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education met the requirements by having a comprehensive integrity rating of grade 2 or higher for two consecutive years, no penalty points for corruption incidents for two years, and a grade 1 in the 2020 Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation.
In the Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation, it achieved the highest grade 1 for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020.
Last year, Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education was the only institution among 264 public institutions nationwide to receive the Presidential Citation in the corruption prevention category at the '9th Anti-Corruption Day Ceremony' hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
Following the anti-corruption will of Superintendent Noh Ok-hee, the entire organization of Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is discovering practical measures for integrity.
By operating anti-corruption systems suitable for the institution's circumstances, such as activating public interest reporting, improving promotion and recruitment systems, and implementing immediate dismissal policies, it is spreading a culture of integrity throughout the Ulsan region.
The Corruption Prevention Policy Evaluation is hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
It evaluates 274 public institutions, including 45 central administrative agencies, 17 metropolitan local governments, 42 basic local governments, 16 educational autonomous bodies, 16 national and public universities, 13 public medical institutions, and 125 public-related organizations, across 4 evaluation areas and 8 unit tasks, then classifies them into grades 1 to 5.
It is conducted annually to evaluate anti-corruption activities and achievements autonomously promoted by public institutions at all levels to enhance integrity, with results announced early the following year.
