[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 5th, Chaehyunil, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, attended the ‘Cultural City Proclamation Ceremony’ held at the annex auditorium of the district office.
At the Cultural City Proclamation Ceremony, National Assembly members Kim Young-joo and Kim Min-seok, Chairman of the Yeongdeungpo District Council Ko Gi-pan, along with city councilors, district councilors, and resident representatives attended in person. About 70 others, including heads of each neighborhood organization and participants in the cultural city project, joined online to celebrate the designation of the cultural city.
The district was designated as a cultural city in December last year, the first among Seoul’s autonomous districts, and plans to accelerate the creation of the cultural city by investing up to 20 billion KRW over the next five years, including 10 billion KRW in national funds.
Mayor Chaehyunil said in his commemorative speech, “This designation as a cultural city is a meaningful achievement that certifies Yeongdeungpo’s artistic and cultural charm and potential,” and added, “I thank everyone who united with one heart and one mind to raise the status and dignity as a cultural city.”
Kim Sooyoung, Mayor of Yangcheon District, attended a meeting of the Paris Park Happiness Guardians Children’s Group (volunteers) held at 2 p.m. on the 5th in the Open Participation Room on the 5th floor of the district office.
On this day, Mayor Kim encouraged the ‘Pahangji’ children’s group members who are making efforts to promote the value of Paris Park through voluntary volunteer activities such as park environmental cleanup, and asked for their continued active participation.
Nowon District (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) held a completion ceremony for the regeneration project at the floor fountain plaza in Sanggye Park (620, Sanggye 8-dong) at 2 p.m. on the 4th.
The completion ceremony was held to commemorate the completion of the regeneration and facility improvement projects for a total of 31,979㎡, including 30,000㎡ of Sanggye Park and 1,500㎡ of nearby Hodori Children’s Park, which began in January last year.
Sanggye Park was newly refurbished with multi-purpose fields, drainage channels, park lights, bollards, exercise spaces, circular walking paths, and rest gardens, and was newly landscaped with trees and flowering plants.
Hodori Children’s Park underwent improvement projects for combined playground equipment, basket swings, rocking horses, pergolas, sand play areas, drinking fountains, and sand play areas.
Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon District said, “Sanggye Park, a resting place for local residents, and Hodori Children’s Park, a playground for children, have returned to the arms of residents with a new look after more than a year of construction,” and added, “I sincerely thank the local residents who endured many inconveniences during the construction period, and sincerely hope these become favorite resting places for residents.”
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, encouraged the employees of the neighborhood community centers to welcome the new year. Starting with Samseon-dong on the 4th, he visited all 20 neighborhoods in Seongbuk District over two days to meet with employees working on the front lines of COVID-19 response.
