Changwon City Council Launches Special Committee for Administrative Investigation of Masan Marine New City
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] The Special Committee for Administrative Affairs Investigation on Masan Marine New City under Changwon City Council in Gyeongnam will investigate the public contest processes from the 1st to the 5th rounds.
On the 5th, the City Council held the 1st plenary session of the 110th extraordinary meeting and passed the “Approval of the Administrative Affairs Investigation Plan for the Masan Marine New City Construction Project.”
The City Council approved the formation of the investigation special committee at the 4th plenary session of the 109th regular meeting on the 20th of last month, and the plan drafted by the special committee was passed as originally proposed on this day.
The investigation special committee, composed of 4 members from the Democratic Party of Korea, 4 members from the People Power Party, and 1 member from the Justice Party, has ordered Changwon City to submit materials related to the Masan Marine New City development project by the 17th.
The special committee requested documents such as the project plan, basis for development project outputs and detailed investment costs for site development projects, development plans and implementation plan approvals, environmental fields including environmental impact assessments and total pollution load management, and land appraisal data.
Through this, they plan to verify the fairness and procedural legality of the 4th and 5th public contest projects for Masan Marine New City.
Additionally, regarding the investigation of the 1st to 3rd public contest processes, as claimed by Vice Chairman Jeon Hong-pyo (Democratic Party of Korea, Hyeondong, Gapho, Wolyeong, Munhwa, Banwoljungang-dong) of the special committee on the same day, they plan to proceed with requests for additional document submissions and other measures.

After the investigation, the special committee will prepare the administrative affairs investigation report by April 13 and, after approval, report it to the plenary session.
