Progressive Party Candidate Kim Jaeyeon: "30 Years of Wednesday Demonstrations, We Will Resolve the Issue of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kim Jae-yeon, the Progressive Party presidential candidate, stated on the 5th, "I will do my best to bring about the Japanese government's recognition of war crimes this year, official apologies, and legal compensation."
On this day, Kim attended the regular Wednesday demonstration held at Peace Road in front of the Japanese Embassy and said, "Following Park Geun-hye, who caused pain to the 'comfort women' victims through the humiliating and deceptive Korea-Japan agreement, President Moon Jae-in also did not take responsibility for resolving the issue of Japanese military sexual slavery."
Kim pointed out, "The Wednesday demonstrations, which began on January 8, 1992, have reached 30 years, but nothing has been resolved yet," adding, "Meanwhile, the victims have passed away one by one, and only 13 registered surviving victims remain in Korea."
She continued, "For the past 30 years, victims, youth, university students, and citizens have demanded the resolution of the Japanese military sexual slavery issue every week at the same time and place, but the Korean government has left the victims and citizens to protest alone and has not paid attention."
