Lee Jae-myung's New Year Public Welfare Walk: Bus, Subway, and Walking... Focusing on 'Seoul Real Estate'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, has decided to launch ‘MaeTaBus Season 2,’ a project to directly engage with grassroots public opinion by using buses, subways, and walking, instead of continuing the ‘MaeTaBus (Weekly Ride on the People’s Bus)’ project that was conducted until last month, which was halted due to strengthened COVID-19 quarantine guidelines. The first destination will be Seoul, where he plans to assess public sentiment on real estate issues such as reconstruction.
On the 5th, Cheon Junho, head of the MaeTaBus Promotion Team, held a briefing at the Yeouido party headquarters and said, “Starting from the first weekend of 2022, Candidate Lee will conduct ‘MaeTaBus Season 2’ in Seoul under the title ‘Walking into the Heart of Public Sentiment.’ Candidate Lee will listen to the voices of citizens he meets on public transportation as they are, without hesitation to hear even harsh criticism.”
The candidate plans to carry out this public transportation field activity once daily from the 7th to the 9th.
He will also focus on addressing the biggest livelihood issue in Seoul, real estate. On the 8th, Candidate Lee will visit a reconstruction site and hold a town hall meeting. The purpose is to listen to voices on-site to prepare measures to improve regulations on reconstruction and redevelopment.
