Prosecutors Re-summon Former Special Prosecutor Park Young-soo over '5 Billion Club' Allegations
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The prosecution investigating the preferential treatment and lobbying allegations related to the Daejang-dong development in Seongnam City has summoned former special prosecutor Park Young-soo again in connection with the '50 Billion Club' suspicion. It has been 37 days since he was first questioned on November 26 last year.
According to the legal community on the 5th, the dedicated investigation team of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (led by Deputy Chief Prosecutor Kim Tae-hoon) summoned former special prosecutor Park this afternoon for questioning as a suspect.
After Hwacheon Daeyu was established in 2015, former special prosecutor Park worked as an advisory lawyer and received an annual advisory fee of 200 million won. His daughter also worked as an employee at Hwacheon Daeyu for several years before quitting, and preferential treatment allegations arose after it was revealed that she purchased an apartment owned by the company at a price below market value.
Additionally, Lee, known as a relative of former special prosecutor Park and the head of the Daejang-dong sales agency, is suspected of receiving 10.9 billion won from Kim Man-bae, the major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu, and delivering 10 billion won of that amount to a civil engineering contractor named Na around 2019.
