Along with this, he voiced strong dissatisfaction by criticizing the internal situation of the election committee and presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol's judgment ability.
On the 5th, Kim met with reporters in front of his office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, saying, "If our intentions do not align, we have no choice but to part ways," and added, "What kind of regent or coup are you talking about? Why would I stage a coup for some purpose? With that level of so-called political judgment, I can no longer share the same intentions with them."
He expressed dissatisfaction with the internal situation of the election committee, saying, "From the beginning, I said that the election committee should not be formed like this when I was organizing it. I was going to not join, but because people around me kept asking why I was trying to avoid responsibility for regime change, I joined on December 3rd. But after joining, I saw that the election committee was not functioning properly."
He also criticized candidate Yoon, saying, "When the moment of opportunity comes, you have to seize it properly, but during the process of properly seizing the moment of opportunity, this kind of situation has occurred," and added, "I have never experienced a presidential election like this."
Regarding reports that he had expressed his intention to resign earlier, he said he called candidate Yoon and told him, "I do not do things like expressing my intention to resign. If I quit, I just quit. I am not the kind of person who expresses resignation and then has it rejected by you." After hanging up, candidate Yoon called back, and he replied, "Then I will consider that I misunderstood."
