Each convenience store is diversifying the varieties and sizes of strawberry products and targeting consumers with unique strawberry dessert launches.
On the 5th, GS25 announced that strawberry sales increased by 27.2% compared to the same period last year from the 28th of last month to the 3rd of this month. During the same period, strawberry sales at CU rose by 21.8%, at 7-Eleven by 24%, and at Emart24 by 31%. Convenience store strawberry products are segmented by size, including 80g, 330g, 500g, and 880g. This is intended to capture the demand for convenience store shopping with small packages for the main customers of convenience stores, single- and two-person households. GS25 offers 6 types, 7-Eleven offers 4 types, and Emart24 offers 2 types of products.
7-Eleven also handles premium varieties such as Seolhyang strawberries and Kingsberry. Seolhyang is characterized by firm flesh, high sweetness, abundant juice, and a sweet and sour texture. Kingsberry is an exclusive product in the industry, securing famous production areas and producers through the Rural Development Administration to supply high-quality strawberries. It boasts an overwhelming size 2 to 3 times larger than regular strawberries and a unique sweet fragrance.
Strawberry desserts are also popular. GS25 increased its strawberry dessert lineup from 4 types last year to 9 types this year. The range of strawberry desserts is gradually expanding to include macarons, cakes, jelly, pudding, parfaits, and more. 7-Eleven sells 5 types including strawberry sandwiches, strawberry cakes, and strawberry cream red bean bread, while Emart24 offers 2 types including strawberry sandwiches and strawberry slice cakes.
At GS25, strawberry dessert sales increased by 35.5% year-on-year from the 28th of last month to the 3rd of this month. Especially, sales were strong in tourist and park (64.7%) and office (47.7%) commercial districts. During the same period, strawberry dessert sales increased by 19.3% at CU, 37% at 7-Eleven, and 41% at Emart24.
