3689 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide by 9 PM... 930 More Than Yesterday (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] As the spread of COVID-19 has somewhat subsided, more than 3,600 new confirmed cases were reported nationwide by 9 p.m. on the 4th.
According to health authorities and local governments, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, a total of 3,689 people tested positive for COVID-19 across 17 cities and provinces nationwide. This is 930 more than the 2,759 cases recorded at the same time the previous day. Typically, the pattern of a sharp increase in confirmed cases repeats starting Wednesday, when the weekend effect disappears.
However, compared to 4,771 cases recorded at the same time a week ago on the 28th of last month, it is 1,082 fewer, and compared to 6,449 cases two weeks ago on the 21st of last month, it is 2,760 fewer, maintaining an overall downward trend. Since there is still time until midnight when the count closes, the number of new confirmed cases to be announced on the 5th is expected to increase further, reaching the 4,000 range.
On that day, 2,584 new confirmed cases (70.0%) were reported in the metropolitan area, and 1,105 cases (30.0%) in non-metropolitan areas. By city and province, the numbers were: Seoul 1,372, Gyeonggi 941, Incheon 271, Busan 189, Chungnam 126, Daegu 112, Gyeongnam 99, Gyeongbuk 97, Jeonbuk 81, Gwangju 75, Gangwon 67, Jeonnam 60, Chungbuk 51, Daejeon 50, Jeju 43, Ulsan 38, and Sejong 17. Confirmed cases were reported in all 17 cities and provinces.
