Bloomberg News reported on the 4th (local time), citing data from Johns Hopkins University, that the daily number of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. exceeded 1 million on the 3rd (local time). This is nearly double the 590,000 cases recorded four days earlier.

The number of new cases in the U.S. is breaking records since the outbreak of COVID-19. After reaching 251,989 cases on January 11 last year and then declining, the number of cases increased again to nearly 300,000 by the end of last year.
