Jeongeup-si Secures 515.7 Billion KRW in National Budget This Year... 10.8% Increase Compared to Previous Year

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) announced on the 4th that it secured 515.7 billion KRW in national budget this year, an increase of 50.2 billion KRW (10.8%) compared to 465.5 billion KRW last year.

The city expects this figure, which exceeds the government budget growth rate of 8.9%, to give momentum to the promotion of major pending projects and policy initiatives in Jeongeup City next year.

From the beginning of the year, the city has visited central government ministries, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the National Assembly whenever possible, and continued an active campaign by directly meeting with ruling and opposition lawmakers to persuade them of the justification and necessity of the projects.

In particular, since last year, the establishment and operation of offices in Sejong and the National Assembly have been evaluated as playing a significant role in building an organic cooperation system with central ministries and the National Assembly.

The major projects include ▲Jeongeup Bujeon~Chilbo (Local Road No. 49) two-lane improvement project (200 million KRW, total project cost 101.9 billion KRW) ▲Livestock manure public treatment facility (cow manure fuel conversion) installation project (250 million KRW, total project cost 43.3 billion KRW) ▲Smart sewage treatment plant management system establishment (2.193 billion KRW, total project cost 6 billion KRW), which are expected to contribute to stabilizing the lives of Jeongeup citizens and serve as a solid foothold for the region’s future development.

Especially for new projects, although the national funding secured in the starting year is minimal, mid- to long-term national and provincial funding is guaranteed, so it is expected to greatly aid regional development.

During the National Assembly review stage, in cooperation with local district lawmakers and political circles, 6.2 billion KRW was additionally secured for 11 projects including ▲Pharmaceutical Industry Future Workforce Training Center establishment (1 billion KRW, total project cost 18 billion KRW) ▲Jeongeupsa Park immersive content production support (500 million KRW, total project cost 3 billion KRW).

A city official stated, “We will continue to focus on securing national budgets that will serve as the foundation for regional development and make our best efforts to create future growth engines and achieve sustainable development.”
