Gwangyang City, Public Officials Pledge to Lead by Example in Practicing Integrity
Resolving to Achieve Integrity Grade 1 'Integrity City Gwangyang' Realization
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] On the 3rd, Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do held the 2022 Expanded Executive Meeting attended by Mayor Jeong Hyeonbok and senior officials, where they renewed their determination and commitment to practicing integrity, publicly declared their will to uphold integrity, and held a pledge ceremony to realize a trusted "Integrity City Gwangyang."
The integrity pledge was read aloud by an employee from the Audit Office on behalf of approximately 1,600 public officials, and Mayor Jeong Hyeonbok, Vice Mayor Kim Gyeongho, and other senior officials signed the anti-corruption and integrity pledge, vowing to take the lead in establishing a corruption-free and honest public service society.
Additionally, considering the COVID-19 situation, each department promoted its own integrity pledges and commitments, agreeing to abide by five practical measures including ▲ compliance with laws and principles as public officials ▲ courteous and fair handling of duties ▲ mandatory compliance with the 「Improper Solicitation and Graft Act」 and the Code of Conduct for Public Officials.
The city reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture of integrity within public service and to striving to achieve a Grade 1 rating in the public institution integrity evaluation conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission this year.
Mayor Jeong Hyeonbok of Gwangyang said, “Through flexible thinking via communication and proactive administration, we will create an organizational culture that prioritizes citizen convenience and build an honest Gwangyang and a trusted city administration together with public officials.”
Meanwhile, last year, Gwangyang City received the Grand Prize in the Jeollanam-do Anti-Corruption Policy Evaluation and achieved a Grade 2 rating, the highest among city-level units nationwide, in the 2021 public institution integrity evaluation conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
