Goyang City Conducts 'Additional Reinforcement Work' on Madudong Building at Risk of Collapse
Installation of Steel Structures at Vulnerable Collapse Points
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that it will conduct a detailed safety inspection and additional reinforcement work on a 7-story building in Madu-dong, Ilsandong-gu.
The city plans to install 55 Jack Supports on the basement 2nd and 3rd floors of the building and set up steel structures at vulnerable collapse points.
Jack Supports are braces that distribute loads to prevent cracks and damage caused by excessive loads or vibrations on the upper parts of buildings.
To monitor additional risk signs, the city installed 15 Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and began restoration work on the damaged concrete pillars on the basement 3rd floor and the nearby sidewalk that had subsided.
The Korea Safety Management Association is also conducting a detailed safety inspection for the second day, mobilizing experts in architecture and civil engineering to check building cracks, leaks, steel strength, and concrete neutralization.
However, it is known that the analysis results of underground imaging data measured through underground cavity detection will not be disclosed for the time being.
