Construction Contract Amount in Q3 Last Year 65.2 Trillion KRW... 12.2% Increase YoY
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 4th that the construction contract amount for the third quarter (July to September) of last year was 65.2 trillion won, an increase of 12.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The contract amount for public construction projects ordered by the central government, local governments, and public institutions was 10.3 trillion won, up 8.9% from the same period last year, while the private sector increased by 12.9% to 55 trillion won.
By construction type, the contract amount for civil engineering (including industrial facilities and landscaping) increased by 32.4% year-on-year to 11.6 trillion won, driven by growth in industrial facilities, subways, and water supply and sewage systems. The building sector recorded 53.6 trillion won, up 8.6%, due to increases in commercial and other buildings.
By company ranking, the top 1-50 companies had contracts worth 25.3 trillion won, a 0.8% increase from the same period last year. Companies ranked 51-100 saw a 40.3% increase to 4.4 trillion won, and those ranked 101-300 also rose 38.5% to 6.6 trillion won. Companies ranked 301-1000 recorded 5.5 trillion won (5.3%), and other companies accounted for 23.2 trillion won (17.4%).

The construction contract amount by site location was 30.5 trillion won in the Seoul metropolitan area, up 10.3% year-on-year, and 34.7 trillion won in non-metropolitan areas, up 14.0%. By headquarters location, the Seoul metropolitan area accounted for 39.1 trillion won (4.4%), and non-metropolitan areas for 25.9 trillion won (26.0%).
