This year’s slogan was set as ‘Breakthrough,’ meaning overcoming internal and external challenges, and ‘Cultural Transformation (RE:Boot),’ signifying a fresh reboot into a digital group different from the past.
On the 3rd, Chairman Cho held the ‘2022 Shinhan Management Forum’ with the participation of the group’s executives and announced this year’s management slogan. At the event, he highlighted that the importance of ‘empathy’ across society has grown even more through last year’s keywords reflecting the hardships caused by COVID-19 and uncertainty.
Last year, he redefined the vision as ‘Easier, More Comfortable, and Newer Finance’ from the customer’s perspective to foster empathy with customers. This year, the existing Shinhan WAY was upgraded to ‘Shinhan WAY 2.0.’ To foster empathy with employees, the core values were newly selected as ‘Right, Fast, Different.’
Chairman Cho said, “Ultimately, the new mission and core values align with the group’s mission of ‘Making the world better through finance,’” and urged, “Let us share Shinhan’s values and translate them into actions through a virtuous cycle of empathy with customers, employees, and society.”
He continued, “This year, complex uncertainties still dominate society overall,” and proposed Breakthrough 2022 as a way to overcome the era of complex uncertainties. The three directions for this are environment, competition, and breaking through the past.
Chairman Cho stated, “To break through the current pandemic and uncertain environment, we can overcome the ‘environment’ of complex uncertainties by scaling up the organization through repeated processes of quickly executing based on Shinhan Financial’s unique methodology S.A.Q. (Speed, Agility, Quickness), centered on customers, markets, and tasks, without fear of failure and by revising and re-executing strategies.”
He also said, “Sustainable growth can be achieved when short-, mid-, and long-term goals are organically connected through reverse engineering, designing current goals based on future objectives.”
In the CEO special lecture, he emphasized self-leadership. He said, “The organization completed through empathy and breakthrough is based on self-leadership, where everyone from new employees to executives works creatively and proactively without fear of failure.” This means that when all employees possess and practice self-leadership, Shinhan moves closer to becoming a first-class organization.
Chairman Cho mentioned, “‘Thinking and acting in the field, consistent immersion’ is my self-leadership,” and added, “All employees, each standing at a new starting line with their own goals, should move forward together toward their dreams and goals to achieve the great dream of First-Class Shinhan.”
