Yang Market Starts Slightly Firm... KOSPI at 2980 Level
Early Session Slight Decline Reverses... Strong Buying by Individuals
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ started with a slight upward trend. However, they showed some hesitation as they shifted to a slight downward trend in the early session.
On the 4th, the KOSPI opened at 2991.97, up 0.11% (3.20 points) from the previous day. As of 9:26 AM, it recorded 2986.76.
By investor type, foreigners and individuals net bought 56.5 billion KRW and 161.4 billion KRW respectively, while institutions net sold 219.8 billion KRW.
Many sectors declined. The order was services (-0.94%), pharmaceuticals (-0.92%), electric and gas utilities (-0.91%), and food and beverages (-0.60%). Meanwhile, medical precision (1.77%), non-metallic minerals (1.40%), and steel & metals (0.54%) rose.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, more stocks fell. The order was Samsung Biologics (-1.65%), NAVER (-1.33%), Kakao (-1.31%), KakaoBank (-1.18%), and SK Hynix (-0.39%). LG Chem (1.29%), Kia (1.21%), Hyundai Motor (0.24%), and Samsung SDI (0.15%) rose. Samsung Electronics remained flat.
The KOSDAQ also started at 1041.07, up 0.31% (3.24 points) from the previous day. As of 9:26 AM, it stood at 1037.01.
Only individuals net bought 111.2 billion KRW. Foreigners and institutions net sold 86.7 billion KRW and 19.1 billion KRW respectively.
In the KOSDAQ market, more sectors rose. The non-metallic sector had the largest increase at 2.64%, followed by telecommunications services (1.74%), publishing & media replication (0.74%), and transportation equipment & parts (0.71%). Digital content (-1.02%), entertainment & culture (-0.64%), and IT software & services (-0.48%) declined.

The top 10 market capitalization stocks showed a similar ratio of declines and rises. Wemade had the largest drop at -2.99%, followed by Pearl Abyss (-1.72%), Celltrion Pharm (-0.80%), Kakao Games (-0.75%), and Celltrion Healthcare (-0.37%). Seegene (1.79%), L&F (1.44%), Chunbo (0.39%), HLB (0.14%), and EcoPro BM (0.13%) rose.
