KCCI: "Despite Elections, Institutional Reform and Continuity of Economic Policy Are Important"
Agreeing with the President's New Year's Address, Repeated Emphasis on 'System Reform'
"Important Economic Policies Must Be Pursued Continuously"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry emphasized the importance of institutional reform in relation to the government's policy direction outlined in President Moon Jae-in's New Year's address. It also reiterated that key economic policies should be pursued continuously amid the presidential and local elections.
On the 3rd, Lee Kyung-sang, head of the Economic Research Headquarters at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated in a commentary, "I agree with setting the goals of national governance as 'complete normalization from COVID-19,' 'leap to a leading country,' and 'improvement of quality of life' amid the paradigm shift in markets and technology."
He added, "However, while focusing all efforts on overcoming the critical phase of the still uncertain spread of variant viruses, I hope the government will proactively strengthen public-private partnerships to tackle new challenges such as digital and carbon-neutral transitions and global supply chain restructuring, and take the lead in legislative and institutional reforms to open the way for future strategic industries."
