According to the county on the 3rd, County Governor Kim San visited Namsan Chung-hon Tower with a few senior staff members to pay respects, then held a kick-off ceremony on site by receiving progress reports and giving instructions at the construction site of the aviation specialized industrial complex.
This kick-off ceremony was held as a meaningful time to seek future development directions at the site of the aviation specialized industrial complex, a major key project of Muan, instead of the usual office ceremony, considering the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic that has depressed the local economy and atmosphere, and to deliver a message of hope and the future of Muan to the residents.
Muan-gun is establishing the aviation specialized industrial complex to proactively respond to the expanding aircraft maintenance industry market in line with the global increase in aircraft, aiming for completion by the end of this year.
The aviation specialized industrial complex, which Muan-gun is developing on a 350,000㎡ site near Muan International Airport with a total project cost of 44.8 billion KRW, will include advanced aviation industrial facilities providing aircraft maintenance hangars, air logistics, and flight services.
Once the complex is completed, it is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by fostering highly skilled manpower, creating large-scale jobs, and attracting population inflow.
Governor Kim San said on site, “Although the aviation industry is currently depressed due to COVID-19, it is a sector expected to experience continuous growth in the long term due to increasing aviation demand. I hope that the aviation specialized industrial complex project we are planning and promoting will be nurtured as a new growth industry of the Republic of Korea and serve as a driving force for the development of the southwestern region of Korea.”
In his New Year’s address, he also said, “I thank the residents who willingly endured sacrifices during the prolonged halt of daily life and economic crisis caused by COVID-19. In the new year, we will strive to overcome disasters and revitalize the region with the power of the good solidarity shown by the residents.”
