Seodaemun-gu Holds Opening Ceremony on the 3rd, Resolves to Overcome Crisis and Leap into the Future... District Mayor Moon Seok-jin Reveals New Year Plans Including 'Creating a Hope City for Livelihood Stability'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) held the 2022 New Year's opening ceremony on the morning of the 3rd, reaffirming its determination to overcome crises and leap into the future.
The ceremony was held in the large conference room of the district office with only department heads and above attending, while other employees participated by watching a video at their respective seats without gathering separately.
In his New Year's address, Mayor Moon Seok-jin said, "Although we have endured a more intense year than ever, the battle against COVID-19 has been ongoing for nearly two years, which weighs heavily on my heart," and added, "I hope 2022 will be a year where we unite our strength to overcome COVID-19 and recover to a better daily life."
He also stated, "We will focus on quarantine efforts to completely end COVID-19 in the new year, while actively responding to the acceleration of the 4th Industrial Revolution and the demands of the era's transition," and "Seodaemun local government will proactively utilize advanced technological innovations along with the digital-based non-face-to-face culture that has become the new standard (New Normal)."
Regarding key projects, he emphasized, "We will create a hopeful city for livelihood stability through solidarity and inclusion." Specifically, he mentioned supporting the online market expansion of traditional markets, preparing customized support measures for the re-advancement of small business owners and self-employed individuals, and expanding public jobs for vulnerable employment groups.
He further stressed, "We will build a happy and safe care city enjoyed by all," and added, "We will advance AI-based non-face-to-face care projects and establish a meticulous care system to address various welfare demands such as young carers (family care youth) and children aging out of protective care."
Additionally, he mentioned, "We will create a low-carbon clean city that coexists with nature through the transition to zero-energy buildings centered on public architecture, the spread of renewable energy, and the expansion of eco-friendly transportation."
Moreover, he said, "We will establish a smart digital city that proactively prepares for change," and explained, "We will dispatch Digital Tutors to senior centers following frontline schools to help bridge the digital divide by age and actively attempt to link IT new technologies in various administrative fields such as education, care, and infrastructure."
