[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Namho Kim, Chairman of DB Group, emphasized the need to develop resilience to withstand any changes and to discover new growth engines by insightfully understanding changes in the business environment and formulating a big picture and strategic plan for the future 10 years ahead, going beyond mere survival.
In his 2022 New Year's address posted on the intranet that day, Chairman Kim conveyed this message to employees, stating, "We are in an era of great transformation where all paradigms of corporate management are changing, such as the acceleration of the Fourth Industrial Revolution following the COVID-19 pandemic."
Chairman Kim first urged the company to maintain a stable profit base and build resilience to withstand any environmental changes. He said, "Each company should further specify mid- to short-term growth goals and strategies, and thoroughly review products, technology, sales, and customer management to enhance crisis response capabilities more than ever."
He continued, "To build a company that can sustain growth in the future, please discover and implement challenging and proactive tasks." He emphasized the need to recognize that discovering promising new growth engines suitable for the post-pandemic era and responding to social demands such as ESG (environment, social, governance) and carbon neutrality are trends of the times.
