Busan Office of Education to Operate Creative and Convergence Subjects in High School Winter School
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will operate the "High School Winter School" for two weeks from the 3rd to the 15th during the winter vacation period.
The program will be conducted at 22 locations, including 8 high schools and 14 universities in the Busan area, targeting 863 first- and second-year general high school students.
Since 2013, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has been operating high school Summer School and Winter School programs to offer creative and convergence subjects such as inquiry, experiments and practical training, discussions and debates, essay writing, arts and physical education, and career experience activities that are difficult to establish and operate within schools.
For the 2022 Winter School, 51 courses were selected and operated from 170 courses requested by universities and high schools, reflecting student preferences by field, the expertise of the lecture content, and the appropriateness of operation.
The 51 course operators, composed of high school teachers and university professors, select students through the review of applicants' self-introduction letters and conduct experience-centered classes for about 18 to 24 hours over two weeks.
Completion of Winter School activities is recorded in the creative experiential activities section of the school life record and serves as evidence of students' career exploration activities.
The Office of Education plans to switch to remote classes or operate a hybrid of face-to-face and remote classes if face-to-face classes are difficult due to the COVID-19 situation.
Even during face-to-face classes, quarantine rules will be followed, prioritizing student safety in operation.
