Lee Jae-myung at Busan Sunrise Event: "Wishing for a Year of Economic Rebound"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, held a New Year's online event in Busan on the 2nd and said, "Busan is the second largest city in South Korea, but it is becoming very difficult," adding, "I want to create a world where the imbalance is greatly resolved and people can talk about dreams and hopes anywhere in South Korea, regardless of whether it is the metropolitan area or local regions."
On the same day, Lee held the '2022 Global Sunrise: Around the Earth' New Year's online sunrise event at Dadaepo Beach in Busan and made these remarks.
Lee, along with his spouse Kim Hye-kyung, watched the sunrise and expressed his New Year's wish, saying, "I hope everyone stays healthy, families are harmonious, and each person achieves their dreams."
He continued, "I hope the people can overcome last year's difficulties and have a year full of hope," emphasizing, "Especially since the economy is tough, I hope this year lays the foundation for economic re-leap."
He said, "I hope there will be many job opportunities and an era of cooperative competition. I also hope the next generation will have many births and the birth rate will rise," adding, "If we unite our strength, we can easily solve many difficulties and create a better world. With the spirit of the tiger!" he raised his voice.
When asked what wish Kim made, she replied, "It's a secret."
Including candidate Lee, the participants ended the event by shouting the slogan, "A hopeful start to the year 2022, the Year of the Black Tiger."
