[3rd Report] One Person Defected to North Korea via Eastern Front of Gangwon Province... "Life Status Unknown"
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] One person presumed to be a South Korean national crossed over to North Korea through the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) fence on the eastern front of Gangwon Province on the 1st.
On the 2nd, the Joint Chiefs of Staff stated, "Yesterday (the 1st) at around 9:20 PM, an unidentified individual was detected by surveillance equipment within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the eastern front. Operational forces were deployed to secure the individual, and during the DMZ operation, it was confirmed that the person crossed the MDL and defected to North Korea at around 10:40 PM."
The official added, "For the protection of our citizen, a notification was sent to North Korea this morning (via the East Sea military communication line)."
