[New Year's Address] Minister Park Beom-gye "Prioritizing People's Livelihood in Legal Policies for the New Year... Emphasizing Innovation and Spirit of Challenge"
[Asia Economy Choi Seok-jin, Legal Affairs Specialist Reporter] Park Beom-gye, Minister of Justice, announced on the 31st that he will continue to implement justice policies prioritizing the livelihood of the people in the new year.
He also emphasized, "Bold innovation and a spirit of challenge will enable the Ministry of Justice to function as a competent organization that looks ahead and plans for the future, rather than one that only provokes disputes."
In his New Year's address, Minister Park stated, "We must continue to pursue justice policies that prioritize the livelihood of the people in the new year," adding, "We must become a milestone for startup companies."
He stressed, "We need to support the free entrepreneurial activities of young people with creative ideas and technologies and provide them with high-quality legal services," and "We must protect new companies from patent infringement and technology theft."
Additionally, Minister Park said, "To secure stable manpower for farms and fisheries and small and medium-sized enterprises chronically suffering from labor shortages, visa and immigration systems must be improved in line with the national economic situation," and added, "Furthermore, basic laws and systems to continuously improve the quality of life, including housing and livelihood, for single-person households and young households, which have become the main family types in our society, must also be maintained."
Moreover, in his New Year's address, Minister Park emphasized ▲ a fair society where human rights and justice coexist ▲ active response to crimes threatening public safety ▲ and planning that looks ahead to the nation's future.
Regarding the prosecution, he said, "The organizational culture of our prosecution has already shifted its core to emphasize human rights and due process," and added, "We must enhance the operational performance of the newly established Human Rights Protection Division and Investigation Cooperation Division last year, continuously identify improvement tasks, and make this year one in which the prosecution's role as a judicial control and human rights protector is firmly established."
He continued, "I ask for your efforts to ensure that the will of the sovereign people is reflected without distortion through swift and strict responses to cases related to the presidential and local elections to be held this year."
Minister Park also said, "What I want to emphasize to the Ministry of Justice in 2022 is this kind of 'innovation' and the bold 'spirit of challenge' that takes one step further at the edge of the spear," adding, "Our bold innovation and spirit of challenge will enable the Ministry of Justice to function as a competent organization that looks ahead and plans for the future, rather than one that only provokes disputes."
Meanwhile, Minister Park stated, "Last year, under the banner of 'justice of coexistence that resonates with the people, and justice administration that supports livelihoods,' I worked hard," adding, "Starting with Dongbu Detention Center, regardless of rain or scorching heat, I traveled 112 times and 14,708 km, pondering and pondering again."
