View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Song Young-gil, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated in his 2022 New Year's address on the 31st, "We will open a true era of national unity through greater cooperation beyond the democratic progressive camp."
In his New Year's address, Leader Song said, "Presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party will create a new tomorrow for the Republic of Korea," adding, "We will end the COVID-19 war with indigenous vaccines and treatments, and achieve a strong economic leap through bold national investment."
He emphasized, "We will resolve housing concerns for everyone with basic housing, and support the recovery of small business owners and self-employed through the active role of national finances," and "We will open an era of peace on the Korean Peninsula based on practical North Korea policies and creative diplomatic solutions. We will realize democracy where the sovereign people are the masters."
He continued, "The Democratic Party will approach the people with a humbler attitude and earnest heart," and "We will correct the mistakes that hurt and disappointed the people." Leader Song raised his voice, saying, "The presidential candidate, party leader, campaign committee, and the party are united in efforts for change," and "We will abandon arrogance and self-righteousness and devote ourselves to ending the people's suffering and inconvenience."
Regarding next year's presidential election, he said, "We face numerous challenges ahead. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic for three years, the digital revolution, worsening climate crisis, and the US-China hegemony competition are all difficult challenges," adding, "To wisely solve these difficult problems, we need capable workers verified by ability, practice, and results, and a prepared president. Not political revenge, but a president who presents the future and keeps promises is needed."

He then urged, "Candidate Lee and the Democratic Party will serve the great people and start a great transformation and leap forward for the Republic of Korea," and "We will create the 4th Democratic government that works 'for me,' a president who changed my life, 'forward' and 'properly.' We will devote all our strength. Please join us."
