Changnyeong-gun, Which Hung City Gas Pipes on Bridges, Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for 'Financial Management Wisdom'
Hanging Pipelines on Namjigyo Bridge Saves 3.8 Billion KRW in Expenses
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Lee Seryeong] Good fortune has come to Changnyeong-gun, which prevented tax waste by suspending city gas pipes on the Nakdong River bridge.
Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, won the Minister’s Award in the expenditure reduction category at the 2021 Local Finance Best Practice Presentation Contest hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has been holding the Local Finance Best Practice Presentation Contest annually since 2008 to discover cases of expenditure reduction, revenue increase, other policy development, and system improvement to enhance the efficiency and soundness of local finance.
The Namji-eup city gas supply project named “City Gas Pipeline, Cross the Nakdong River!” was selected as an excellent case, earning the honor of the Minister’s Award, commendations for meritorious public officials, and securing 100 million won in local allocation tax.
The work of burying the gas pipeline in the Nakdong River stream had excessive construction costs, making the project’s progress uncertain. Changnyeong-gun applied a construction method of suspending the city gas pipeline on the side of the Namji Bridge, saving 3.8 billion won in expenditure budget.
The county plans to supply city gas to detached houses and apartment complexes in Namji-eup starting from the first half of 2022.
