Gwangyang Steelworks Hosts 2021 'PosTube Competition'
Video Platform 'PosTube' for Sharing On-site Know-how, Skills, and Knowledge Among Employees
Grand Prize Awarded to Manager O Taekyung and Staff Choi Inseok of Seongang Equipment Department
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang Steelworks held the 2021 POSCO Postube Competition and took steps to activate effective knowledge sharing among employees.
'Postube' is a knowledge-sharing video platform where veteran employees can transfer their on-site skills through short videos, allowing employees to upload and share job know-how videos themselves.
POSCO opened 'Postube' last year to prepare for rapid generational changes such as the retirement of highly skilled senior employees and the entry of the MZ generation, aiming to bridge the technological gap between generations. In particular, it has established itself as a customized job bible at the operation site by enabling immediate access to excellent know-how transfer and solutions for work methods.
Additionally, POSCO supports video editing experts for partner companies to assist in transferring their know-how and shares work precautions, striving to realize the values of safety and coexistence.
To promote video production among employees and raise the quality of content, POSCO held the 'Postube Competition,' with a total of 22 teams participating in pairs of two. Considering the different working environments of Yangso, the competition was held separately, and employee voting adopted a cross-voting method between Gwangyang and Pohang.
At Gwangyang Steelworks, among the 10 videos that advanced to the finals, a total of 5 videos were awarded by combining employee electronic votes and judges' evaluations.
The grand prize went to Manager Oh Tae-kyung and Staff Choi In-seok of the Wire Rod Equipment Department for producing a video on 'the replacement work of the rotary distributor that charges iron ore and coke into the appropriate positions inside the blast furnace.' In addition, two teams received excellence awards and two teams received encouragement awards, sharing the honor of outstanding Postube awards.
POSCO plans to actively utilize 'Postube' in various ways, using this competition as a stepping stone?not only for junior employees' learning but also as teaching materials to discover hazards during work and as a guidepost to ensure safe operations.
