[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters (Chief Park Geun-oh) announced on the 29th that Firefighter Kim Dae-hoon (age 36) of the Western Fire Station was recently selected as a special promotion candidate in the fire response field by the National Fire Agency and will be promoted one rank to Fire Sergeant.
Firefighter Kim Dae-hoon was appointed as a fire officer in 2015 and has responded to over 500 disaster sites including various fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services over the past seven years, leading efforts to protect the lives and property of the residents.
In particular, he has worked to prevent large-scale fires by actively promoting fire prevention tasks such as building fire activity data including fire target prevention statistics, maintaining the distribution status of residential fire facilities, and conducting special fire investigations on fire-vulnerable targets.
Additionally, during the pig farm fire in Aewol-eup last June, he was recognized for his contribution to fire suppression by promptly conducting life searches and fire extinguishing activities on site, reducing property damage by over 700 million won.
Park Geun-oh, Chief of Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “I sincerely congratulate Firefighter Kim Dae-hoon, who has taken the lead in protecting the lives and property of residents on the front lines. I hope he continues to perform his duties with responsibility and pride.”
Meanwhile, special promotions in the fire response field are given to those who have made significant contributions to life rescue and property damage prevention at fire scenes such as large fires; those who have contributed to fire-related field response through active work such as developing fire equipment and on-site response technology, improving systems, and proposing excellent policies; and those who serve as role models with a strong sense of mission and volunteer spirit and contribute to improving fire safety services.
