Selected as an Administrative Excellence Case by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Including the Site Exchange for the 'Lee Kun-hee Donation Hall'
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 29th that it selected four cases as the third round of exemplary proactive administrative cases this year, including "Laying the foundation for the construction of the Lee Kun-hee Donation Hall (tentative name) through the exchange of state-owned and public land by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and related ministries." Based on the exchange negotiations, the Ministry designated the Songhyeon-dong site as the location for the donation hall and signed a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 10th of last month. The Lee Kun-hee Donation Hall is scheduled to begin an international design competition in the second half of next year and to be completed and opened in 2027.
Other exemplary cases include "Integrating non-face-to-face export support events of six ministries and supporting the overseas expansion of Hallyu-related industries," "Improving the recognition scope of sports instructors and water safety personnel to strengthen public health and safety management," and "Joint public-private response to illegally distributed Hallyu content and derivative products overseas." Last month, the Ministry co-hosted the '2021 K-Expo' event and supported the overseas expansion of Hallyu content and related businesses through non-face-to-face means. The video export consultation meeting involved 498 domestic companies and 432 overseas purchasing companies.
The Ministry grants sports instructor qualifications to health exercise managers exclusively for fitness centers and expanded the qualification recognition scope for water rescuers to act as water safety personnel under the Sports Facilities Act. Additionally, a public-private joint overseas intellectual property protection council was formed, and a cooperative system among overseas branches of ministries was established to respond to approximately 120,000 cases of illegally distributed Hallyu content and derivative products overseas.
