Ministry of Economy and Finance Announces Results of 2021 Policy MVP Selected by the People
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 28th that the COVID-19 3-package policies, including the National Support Fund and the Win-Win Consumption Support Fund, were selected as this year's 'Policy MVP' chosen by the public.
The Policy MVP is a system in which the Ministry of Economy and Finance selects and awards the most outstanding policy among those implemented throughout the year based on a comprehensive evaluation by the public, media, and experts. Among the major policies promoted over the past year, candidates submitted by public participation events and each department were selected, resulting in 27 candidate policies across 6 categories. Voting was held for 7 days starting December 9th. A total of 6,864 people, including the general public, press corps, and policy experts, participated in the vote.
As a result of the vote, the COVID-19 3-package policies, including the National Support Fund and the Win-Win Consumption Support Fund, were selected as the Ministry of Economy and Finance MVP Award that resonated most with the public this year. Following this, the 'Final Agreement on Digital Tax' received the Shadow Award, the 'Two-track Response to Diesel Exhaust Fluid Supply Instability and Global Supply Shock' received the Novelty Award, and the 'Preparation of the National Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target Enhancement Plan' was chosen for the Challenge Award.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki said at the award ceremony, "As a result of the passion and dedication of all departments and employees of the Ministry of Economy and Finance working day and night, we achieved many accomplishments in 2021." He added, "It is important to deeply recognize that communication efforts to establish policies that meet the public’s expectations?such as collecting opinions through various channels between the government and the public during the policy implementation process?bring excellent policy outcomes and positive evaluations from the public."
