South Korea, US, and Japan to Hold Defense Ministers' Meeting After 2 Years

On the 28th, a government official stated, "The three countries are in discussions to hold a defense ministers' meeting in mid-next month in Hawaii."
The last trilateral defense ministers' meeting among South Korea, the United States, and Japan was held in November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, during the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) expanded defense ministers' meeting, marking a two-year gap.
On the 10th, the three countries reaffirmed the importance of security cooperation through a phone call and agreed to seek high-level exchanges, including defense ministers. Additionally, during the 53rd Security Consultative Meeting (SCM) held in Seoul on the 2nd, Minister Suh and Minister Austin confirmed the importance of trilateral cooperation among South Korea, the United States, and Japan in responding to North Korea's nuclear and missile development efforts.
