Gwangju-Jeonnam E-commerce Exports Over 3 Times Higher Than Last Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] E-commerce exports from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions have surged more than threefold compared to last year.
According to the Gwangju Customs Headquarters on the 27th, as of November this year, regional e-commerce exports totaled $3.06 million, an increase of 326.7% compared to the same period last year.
In Gwangju, cosmetics mainly drove exports, while in Jeonnam, exports of K-pop related products increased.
However, the share of e-commerce exports from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions accounted for only 0.5% of the national total, remaining minimal.
By region, Gwangju recorded about $737,000, and Jeonnam about $2.326 million, increasing 1.7 times and 4.3 times respectively compared to the same period last year.
By product category, K-pop related items accounted for $2.06 million, representing 67.1% of total exports. This is a 48-fold increase compared to last year.
Tableware ($127,000), tea products ($110,000), and gochujang ($52,000) opened export routes for the first time this year.
The Gwangju Customs Headquarters analyzed that K-pop related exports were mainly conducted through global open markets, while sales through company websites had low usage rates.

Exports to Japan and the United States increased about 9 times and 4 times respectively compared to last year, while exports to Singapore (-38.1%), Canada (-87.6%), and Australia (-76.1%) decreased.
