[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) enacted the 'Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Support Ordinance for Recyclable Collectors' this year, and following the summer 'ice vests,' held a delivery ceremony on the 22nd to provide winter cold-weather clothing and scarves.
According to Seo-gu on the 24th, this event was organized to assist 85 elderly recyclable collectors working in the cold wave amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting increase in waste, by providing cold-weather clothing, scarves, and ear covers.
The items will be distributed to each neighborhood administrative welfare center near the elderly residents' homes and delivered directly.
Oh Il-seong, Director of the Cleaning Administration Division, said, "I hope this cold-weather clothing support will be a small help to the elderly spending the cold winter," and added, "We will continue to pay attention and provide support so that the elderly can work healthily and safely."
