As US Authorities Launch Investigation... Tesla Limits In-Drive Gaming Feature
[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] Tesla has decided to restrict the video game access feature that had been criticized for operating even inside electric vehicles while driving.
According to local media such as The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and CNBC on the 23rd (local time), Tesla will set a lock function on 'Passenger Play,' which allows games to be enjoyed through a large touchscreen inside the car, and disable this feature while driving.
This measure came just one day after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officially launched an investigation, citing concerns that it could distract drivers and increase the risk of accidents.
An NHTSA spokesperson confirmed the related facts in a statement on the same day, saying, "With a new software update, the vehicle will lock Passenger Play and make it unusable while driving." Tesla is currently conducting the software update related to this.

NHTSA has been investigating complaints received in August regarding 580,000 Tesla Model 3, Model S, and Model X vehicles from 2017 to 2022. They are examining whether the use of the Passenger Play feature, which allows drivers to play games on the vehicle's main display, could increase the risk of accidents. An official recall has not been confirmed.
