Gyeonggi-do Develops Rapid Response Manual for Missing Persons with Developmental Disabilities
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has created a manual to respond quickly to missing persons with developmental disabilities.
On the 23rd, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Developmental Disabilities Support Center announced that they will produce and distribute the 'Prevention and Response Methods for Missing Persons with Developmental Disabilities.'
The manual contains step-by-step response measures from searching for the missing person to reporting and requesting help, so that parents of people with developmental disabilities or workers at welfare facilities for the disabled can quickly find them without panic in case of disappearance or runaway incidents.
It also includes related forms within the manual to prepare in advance or use when necessary, such as creating individual cards for missing prevention, securing hospital records, and pre-registering fingerprints in preparation for disappearance.
Furthermore, it contains response methods to safely assist missing persons with developmental disabilities to return home without panic when encountered in places exposed to missing environments, such as large marts frequently used by many people or nearby residential areas.
To this end, it explains in an easy-to-understand manner with illustrations the characteristics of people with developmental disabilities, how to interact with them, procedures for responding to disappearance, the missing alert text system, and contact information for related organizations.
The manual was produced in two types: 'For Guardians' for parents and workers at welfare institutions for the disabled, and 'For Education' for general institutions and citizens.
The Gyeonggi Developmental Disabilities Support Center will distribute 1,000 copies of the manual to about 200 places including police stations, community centers, public institutions, hospitals, special schools (40 schools), and welfare centers for the disabled within the province.
In addition, the manual file will be posted on the center's website so that anyone can download and use it.
