220 Confirmed Cases in Gyeongnam... Ongoing Cluster Infections in Schools, Nursing Hospitals, and Workplaces
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Ju Cheol-in] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 22nd that as of 5 p.m., 220 people in the province tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
By region, there were 78 cases in Changwon, 36 in Yangsan, 32 in Geoje, 17 in Gimhae, 15 in Jinju, 10 each in Miryang and Goseong, 5 in Sacheon, 4 each in Tongyeong, Changnyeong, and Sancheong, 2 in Haman, and 1 each in Hadong, Geochang, and Uiryeong.
Regarding the infection routes, among the total confirmed cases, 122 were infected through contact with confirmed cases within the province, such as family and acquaintances.
Twenty-four were infected through contact with confirmed cases from other regions such as Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gyeonggi, and Jeonbuk.
Among the routes classified as cluster infections, 8 were related to educational facilities in Yangsan, 4 to medical institution Ⅴ in Changwon, 2 to company Ⅳ in Changwon, 1 to medical institution Ⅳ in Changwon, 1 to nursing hospital Ⅱ in Gimhae, 1 to nursing facility in Changwon, and 1 to a school in Geochang tested positive.
One person was an overseas entrant. The infection routes of the remaining 55 are under investigation.
Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province increased to 18,895 (2,191 hospitalized, 16,633 discharged, 71 deceased).
