Gochang-gun Agricultural Technology Center Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Comprehensive Evaluation of Rural Guidance Projects

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Jaegil] The Gochang-gun Agricultural Technology Center in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 22nd that it was selected as an excellent institution in the technology dissemination field in the 2021 Rural Guidance Project Comprehensive Evaluation conducted by the Jeollabuk-do Agricultural Technology Institute.

The Agricultural Technology Center secured a project fund of 70 million won after being selected as an excellent institution in the technology dissemination field of the rural guidance project in the provincial comprehensive evaluation, following its award as an excellent institution in the rural resources field by the Rural Development Administration last November.

The county achieved outstanding results in the technology dissemination field, including ▲ minimizing crop damage through preemptive control of crop pests and diseases ▲ expanding certified low-carbon agricultural and livestock farms and disseminating carbon-neutral practices in agriculture ▲ preserving and fostering native agricultural products and guiding the production of safe agricultural products in response to GMOs ▲ establishing an integrated system for soil analysis and safety analysis laboratories.

In particular, the county focused on fostering items that meet consumer demands and trends, such as branding eco-friendly Sugwang rice, disseminating melon production technology of the highest quality nationwide, and expanding the production of small-sized watermelons (Apple Watermelon, Mango Watermelon) due to the increase in single-person households.

Additionally, by establishing the 'Nopul Gochang Mall' online integrated shopping mall, it helped increase farmers' income through systematic technology dissemination from production to shipment of high-quality agricultural, livestock, and marine products of Gochang via various online and offline sales channels such as live broadcasts, TV home shopping, and operation of five SNS channels.

Hyun Haeng-yeol, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We will continue to raise farmers' income through stable production of top-quality agricultural products and differentiated marketing, and continuously carry out agricultural new technology dissemination projects to foster regionally specialized items. We will also do our best to actively respond to the comprehensive evaluation of the rural guidance project and achieve good results.”
