Choi Byung-il Appointed Head of Gyeonggi Fire Department on 22nd: "Committed to Residents' Safety"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Choi Byung-il was inaugurated as the head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 22nd.
Head Choi is from Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do. He graduated from Ajou University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and earned a master's degree in Public Administration from the same university's graduate school. He entered the fire service as the 7th class fire officer candidate in 1993 and served as spokesperson for the National Fire Agency, head of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Fire Headquarters, and director of the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters of the National Fire Agency. In July, he was promoted to Fire Commissioner and served as deputy head of the National Fire Agency. Notably, he has a deep connection with Gyeonggi-do, having served as chief of the Pyeongtaek Fire Station, Suwon Fire Station, and Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters.
Head Choi emphasized, "I feel a heavy responsibility to ensure the safety of 13 million Gyeonggi-do residents, but I will do my best to provide high-quality fire services for their safety. Based on communication and harmony within the organization, we will become a fire service loved and trusted by the residents through perfect on-site response."
On his first day in office, Head Choi will visit a large logistics center in Yongin for an on-site inspection without holding a separate inauguration ceremony.

Meanwhile, Head Choi received the Presidential Citation in 2006 and the Order of Service Merit, Red Stripes in 2015 for his contributions to protecting citizens' lives and advancing fire administration.
