Nikkei: "China Sends Olympic Invitation to President Moon" Foreign Ministry Denies
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Japanese media reported on the 21st that the Chinese government sent an invitation to President Moon Jae-in to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics scheduled for February next year.
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei), citing South Korea-China diplomatic sources, predicted that South Korea would carefully consider the Chinese invitation while gauging domestic public opinion.
Earlier, on the 13th, after a summit meeting with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Canberra, Australia, President Moon stated at a press conference, "I have not received any encouragement from the United States or any other country to participate in a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics," adding, "The South Korean government is not considering it."
