Hamyang-gun Designated as Nationally Approved Statistics by Statistics Korea for 'Traditional Market Survey'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 21st that the 2020 Traditional Market Survey has been designated as a national approved statistic by the Statistics Korea.
The county completed the 2020 survey of traditional markets and shopping districts to revitalize the local and low-income economies, and posted the survey report on the Hamyang-gun website.
The traditional market survey, newly designated as a national approved statistic, targeted traditional markets within Hamyang-gun, including Jirisan Hamyang Market and township markets, covering a total of 39 items in three categories: general status of businesses, management status, and market revitalization projects, along with collecting opinions for the activation of traditional markets.
The survey results showed that there are a total of 167 businesses in traditional markets: 126 in Jirisan Hamyang Market and 41 in township markets.
In particular, improving parking conditions was identified as the top priority project needed for market revitalization, while the biggest operational difficulty was weakening commercial districts.
Regarding parking improvement measures, responses strongly indicated the need for sharing and supporting the use of public facility parking lots, as well as expanding Onnuri gift certificates and Hamyang Market gift certificates.
The Hamyang-gun traditional market survey, as a national approved statistic, will be conducted every two years starting from the first survey in 2021, aiming to systematically establish policies for revitalizing traditional markets and enhance user satisfaction.
