Yeongam-gun, 2022 Main Budget Confirmed at 627.3 Billion Won
528 Billion KRW Increase Compared to This Year's Original Budget to Revitalize the Economy Stagnated by COVID-19
1.327 Trillion KRW Allocated for Social Welfare, 1.443 Trillion KRW for Agriculture and Forestry Sectors
[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do finalized the 2022 main budget of 627.3 billion KRW through the county council's resolution on the 17th.
According to the county on the 21st, this amount is an increase of 52.8 billion KRW (9.20%) compared to this year's main budget of 574.5 billion KRW, and the budget was prepared to improve the difficult local economy of residents due to the impact of COVID-19.
By account type, the general account increased by 56.5 billion KRW (11.17%) compared to this year to 562.7 billion KRW, other special accounts increased by 1.1 billion KRW (11.08%) to 10.9 billion KRW, and the public enterprise special account decreased by 4.8 billion KRW (8.15%) to 53.7 billion KRW, resulting in a total increase of 52.8 billion KRW (9.20%).
By function, the agricultural, forestry, marine, and fisheries sector accounts for 144.3 billion KRW (23.00%), social welfare sector 132.7 billion KRW (21.15%), environment sector 82.3 billion KRW (13.12%), national land regional development and transportation logistics sector 73.1 billion KRW (11.66%), and culture and tourism sector 37.0 billion KRW (5.89%), focusing on ‘high-quality, high-income life agriculture promotion’ and ‘realization of hopeful welfare for living well together.’
In particular, next year, 42.0 billion KRW was allocated for basic pensions, 2.9 billion KRW for child and youth welfare enhancement such as providing eco-friendly meals, and 3.9 billion KRW for elderly and local community activity job support projects. Efforts were made to implement inclusive welfare policies that take responsibility for residents' lives throughout their entire life cycle for a sustainable society.
Additionally, 10.1 billion KRW was allocated for welfare projects for low-income groups such as living support for socially vulnerable and marginalized groups, 9.4 billion KRW for disability welfare support, 38.3 billion KRW for agricultural direct payments, 6.7 billion KRW for farmers' public interest allowances, 4.1 billion KRW for crop disaster insurance premiums, 2.7 billion KRW for AI quarantine projects, and 1.5 billion KRW for joint pest control, placing great emphasis on hopeful welfare for living well together and high-income, high-quality life agriculture.
Furthermore, in response to the COVID-19 era, 12.2 billion KRW was allocated to support local residents suffering hardships, and for balanced regional development and improvement of residential conditions, budgets were allocated as follows: 2.3 billion KRW for Yeongam city gas supply, 4.2 billion KRW for urban regeneration, 6.6 billion KRW for climate change response and air environment improvement projects, 19.8 billion KRW for rural local water supply development and aging water pipeline maintenance projects, 14.7 billion KRW for Daebul district sewage priority management area maintenance and Yeongam aging sewage pipeline maintenance projects, and 8.3 billion KRW for tourism infrastructure expansion and cultural arts support, aiming to create a pleasant living environment and support cultural and artistic activities.
A county official stated, “During the budget preparation process, the budget was reflected to revitalize the local economy and support residents who are struggling due to the COVID-19 era.”
