Gokseong-gun Wins National Grand Prize in Visiting Health and Welfare Excellence Competition

[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 21st that it won the grand prize in the 2021 Resident-Centered Public Service Establishment Project 'Visiting Health and Welfare Field Excellent Case Competition' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

With the grand prize, Gokseong-gun secured a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety and a financial incentive of 21 million KRW.

Gokseong-gun was recognized for its contribution to establishing and spreading a living-close support system tailored to regional characteristics.

Gokseong-gun established the nation's first one-stop (ONE-STOP) resident-centered integrated public welfare service delivery system.

The core of this system is reorganizing the welfare-related organizations to integrally provide health and welfare projects that were previously dispersed across the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and others.

This resolved residents' inconveniences and issues such as overlapping service support.

It was also evaluated that the concentration of tasks enhanced the local health and welfare problem-solving capability.

Furthermore, the organizational restructuring of the delivery system strengthened the role as a hub linking welfare services of various institutions within the region.

Recently, Gokseong-gun was able to conduct a special self-planned survey to identify households in crisis within the welfare blind spots targeting 10,901 households, made possible by the prior restructuring of the delivery system.

Through the survey, Gokseong-gun is realizing a dense safety-net welfare by actively promoting linkage and cooperation projects between private resources and health and welfare.

Additionally, Gokseong-gun expanded the installation of customized welfare teams in towns and townships and deployed nursing public officials. This expanded visiting health and welfare counseling and professional welfare infrastructure.

Efforts were also made to build a resident-centered public-private cooperation network.

Through the 11 town and township community security councils, residents are supported to directly solve local problems and execute village welfare plans.

Gokseong-gun plans to lead the realization of resident-experienced welfare by strengthening the substance of comprehensive consultation desks in towns and townships, activating the system for discovering welfare blind spots, and enhancing integrated case management capabilities.

A county official said, “This achievement was possible because the public and private sectors communicated and cooperated. We will continue to strive to provide warm and dense welfare services that come closer to residents and that everyone can participate in together.”
