Senior Secretary Min's Son Specifies Father's Position on Job Application... Resignation Accepted Considering 'Public Sentiment'
[Asia Economy reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in accepted the resignation of Kim Jin-guk, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs, who was embroiled in a controversy over "Dad's chance" related to his son's job application on the 21st.
Park Soo-hyun, Senior Secretary for Public Communication at the Blue House, announced the acceptance of President Moon's resignation during a briefing at the Press Center. According to a previous media report, Kim's son, Kim Mo, reportedly indicated on his job application that his father was the Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs.
It was conveyed that he wrote, "I will fulfill this company's dream by speaking well to my father." Additionally, Kim stated on his resume that he graduated from the Department of Martial Arts Guidance at Yongin University in March 2018, but he had not actually graduated, leading to a controversy over "false academic credentials."
However, Kim claimed that he withdrew the resume and did not attend the interview. Kim said, "I acted immaturely because I really wanted to get the job," and Senior Secretary Kim also apologized, saying, "This is unacceptable."
Senior Secretary Kim submitted his resignation immediately upon arriving at work in connection with this controversy, and President Moon accepted it. A senior Blue House official stated, "This is to promptly respond to the sentiments that the public may feel."
