Heo Seong-gon, Mayor of Gimhae, "Confirmed cases everywhere in daily life... We must pause briefly and participate in vaccination"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] Heo Seong-gon, mayor of Gimhae City, once again appealed to citizens to pause briefly during the strengthened social distancing period.
On the 20th, Mayor Heo held a briefing at the city hall press center and stated, "Since the start of the phased daily recovery last month until the 19th of this month, 742 confirmed cases have occurred," adding, "Confirmed cases continue to appear in various aspects of daily life."
He continued, "To overcome this critical moment, above all, the cooperation of citizens in pausing briefly is essential," and urged, "Please actively participate in vaccination, considering not only the 1st and 2nd doses but also the 3rd dose as a necessity, not an option."
Gimhae City is striving to minimize community transmission through the operation of screening clinics, respiratory-specialized clinics, and mobile temporary screening centers, along with rapid epidemiological investigations. In preparation for a shortage of hospital beds, a home treatment task force has been formed, and three medical institutions dedicated to home treatment have been designated and are operating; as of the 19th, 362 people have been receiving home treatment.
As of the 19th, Gimhae City's 2nd dose vaccination rate is 80%, and the 3rd dose vaccination rates are 79.2% for those aged 75 and older, 39.7% for those aged 60?74, and the 2nd dose vaccination rate for children and adolescents aged 12?17 is 39.5%. Gimhae City continues to increase vaccination rates through visits to vulnerable facilities and one-stop vaccination for the elderly.
