Krafton Invests 5.9 Billion KRW in Indian Social Platform 'FRND'
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Krafton announced on the 20th that it has invested $5 million (approximately 5.9 billion KRW) in the Indian social platform 'FRND (Friend)'.
Krafton led the Series A round of Friend, driving a total investment of about $6.5 million (approximately 7.7 billion KRW). In addition to Krafton, companies such as India Quotient and Elevation Capital also participated in the investment.
Friend is a new-concept social platform developed based on Indian languages, aiming to secure 1 billion users in India. It is characterized by combining gaming and dating. Through voice chat, men and women connected one-on-one can play casual and board games together to get to know each other. Currently, the service is offered in 10 different Indian languages. With the investment funds, they plan to expand the languages further and strengthen technologies such as cutting-edge algorithms.
Through this investment, Krafton is contributing to the creation and strengthening of the Indian startup ecosystem and is laying the foundation to grow alongside the Indian market. By securing a user pool based on various regional languages, they also plan to broadly expand opportunities for new businesses.
