Jeongeup-si and National Pension Service Sign Sales Contract for Training Center Construction
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] The project to establish a four-season stay-type tourist destination centered around Naejangsan National Park, promoted by Jeongeup City in Jeollabuk-do, is expected to accelerate further.
Jeongeup City and the National Pension Service (NPS) announced on the 20th that they signed a sales contract for the construction of the NPS Training Center (Human Resources Development Institute) at the city hall disaster safety situation room.
This comes six months after signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the construction of the training center on June 15.
The sales contract signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Yoo Jin-seop, NPS Chairman Kim Yong-jin, and officials from both organizations.
With this contract, investment for the development of the training center (Human Resources Development Institute), capable of accommodating more than 200 trainees daily, has begun, marking the start of full-scale project implementation.
The National Pension Service, one of the world's top three pension institutions, was established on September 18, 1987, and is organized with 109 branches and approximately 7,520 employees.
Its fund reserves amount to a staggering 919 trillion KRW, making it one of the world's top three pension funds.
The training center will have a total project cost of 41.3 billion KRW, is scheduled for completion in 2025, and will be built on a 46,316㎡ site near Naejangsan Cultural Plaza in Bujeon-dong, with a total floor area of 10,000㎡.
Once completed, more than 200 employees from the NPS headquarters and 109 branches are expected to use the training center daily.
In particular, with approximately 7,200 NPS employees and their families using the training center, it is expected to greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy through promoting consumption of local agricultural and livestock products and creating jobs.
The city plans to link the training center with Naejangsan Cultural Plaza’s Angel Heroes, camping sites, water parks, forest product experience zones, a circular train and rail bike running on approximately 2.2 km of rail around the cultural plaza scheduled to be established in March next year, and a digital media art center combining light, sound, and scent, which is expected to aid tourism industry development and tourism inducement effects.
Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, “Once the training center is built, it will greatly help regional economic revitalization and development through economic synergy effects such as increased consumption of local agricultural and livestock products, tourism inducement, job creation, and increased local tax revenue.”
Meanwhile, the city is rapidly emerging as a mecca city for training centers in South Korea by consecutively attracting training facilities such as the NPS training center, JB Financial Group training center, and Korea Electrical Safety Corporation training institute.
