Heavy Snow Crisis Alert Downgraded from 'Caution' to 'Attention'... Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Level 1 Lifted
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety downgraded the heavy snow crisis alert level on the 18th from 'Caution' to 'Interest' and lifted the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) emergency duty Level 1.
As of 9 a.m. on the same day, the Ministry lifted the heavy snow warning for most areas except Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
The snowfall amounts in the previous 24 hours until 6 a.m. on the day were 11.4 cm in Gochang, Jeonbuk; 10.5 cm in Ulleung, Gyeongbuk; 6.7 cm in the Jeju mountain area; 6.4 cm in Gwangju; 5.8 cm in Jangseong, Jeonnam; and 5.4 cm in Gunsan, Jeonbuk.
Snowfall is expected in the afternoon mainly around the Seoul metropolitan area.
Cold wave warnings are in effect in most parts of the country. Temperatures are expected to rise from noon on the 18th and return to normal levels on the 19th.
