Platform 'Cabin.net' Launches Featuring 200 Brands and Products for Value and Ethical Consumption
The Nation's First Consumer-Centered Value Consumption Complex Platform
Featuring Social Enterprises and Social Venture Brands' Values and Stories with Related Products Available for Purchase
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 19th that it will open the 'Social Economy Content Platform - Cabin.net,' which features 200 products and brand stories from about 100 social economy enterprises.
While there have been shopping malls selling products from social economy enterprises, this is the first platform in Korea that introduces diverse stories of companies pursuing social values such as social enterprises, cooperatives, and social ventures, and enables immediate shopping within the platform.
At ‘Cabin.net,’ various articles related to topics attracting the interest of multiple generations, such as environment, travel, and subscription economy, are presented in an engaging way centered on consumers and demanders. Consumers can check stories and articles about their areas of interest and directly purchase products and services that pursue social values and promote ethical consumption.
First, there are ‘Company Introduction’ contents categorized by fields such as food, performances/events, education/care, and health/medical. Interesting stories stand out alongside various products and services produced by each company, ranging from gluten-free bread, medicinal herbs, eco-friendly agricultural and marine products to dementia diagnosis and management systems, share houses, and performances. Contents that gather and introduce brands and products related to popular themes such as ESG management, pets, and camping are noteworthy. For example, an article about pets focusing on cats collects and displays brand stories and products needed by pet owners, such as cat toothpaste, snacks, and cleaners, along with characteristics of cats. The camping article introduces the recently popular emotional camping and details emotional camping items.
One of the advantages is that each story links to a shopping mall where related products can be purchased immediately and conveniently. For example, when hovering the mouse over a folding chair in a camping photo, the product name and price appear, and clicking it allows the purchase of the product.
Starting from the first half of next year, 'Cabin.net' plans to provide content such as vivid reviews of products and services, the production process of products, and videos telling the stories of companies through the ‘Cabin TV menu.’ To deliver easy and enjoyable stories to citizens, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will appropriately use the platform’s character ‘Cabin’ within the content and select MZ generation editors called ‘Castanets’ to deliver the products and services of social economy enterprises with a sense of presence.
‘Cabin.net’ supports social login methods, allowing easy login via portals, messengers, and SNS. Users can set up to eight keywords reflecting their personal tastes and interests and receive content recommendations related to those keywords. Related information can also be accessed through SNS such as Instagram and Facebook, in addition to the homepage.
