"51-Year-Old Husband Vaccinated with Pfizer in Coma Due to Acute Renal Failure and Cerebral Thrombosis" 청 청원
[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A story has emerged about a healthy husband who was admitted to the intensive care unit in an unconscious state due to acute renal failure and cerebral thrombosis after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
On the 16th, a petition titled "Standing at the crossroads of life and death in the ICU due to acute renal failure and cerebral thrombosis after Pfizer vaccine administration" was posted on the Blue House National Petition site.
The petitioner, who introduced herself as a 49-year-old woman with a 51-year-old husband living in Bucheon, stated, "My husband was very healthy, but after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine on October 5th, he is now unconscious in the ICU, relying on a ventilator. I am so frustrated and heartbroken that I am writing this."
According to the petitioner, her husband, Mr. A, received the first Pfizer dose in early September and the second dose on October 5th. Mr. A reported experiencing headaches and nausea starting two days after the first dose. At that time, he took Tylenol, and fortunately, his condition improved after a few days, allowing him to resume daily activities.
Afterward, Mr. A received the second dose and reportedly experienced the same symptoms as after the first dose. He said, "I feel dizzy, nauseous, have little appetite, and have trouble sleeping" after the second vaccination. His condition did not improve and was later accompanied by vomiting, which he had not experienced before.
Eventually, on November 23rd, Mr. A visited a local clinic, where he was advised to go to a larger hospital due to high blood pressure. He then underwent blood tests at a higher-level hospital.
The petitioner said, "His kidney and liver levels were abnormal, and his blood pressure was high. The hospital told us, 'He must be admitted immediately,' and 'It would be dangerous to send him home in this condition.'" At that time, Mr. A showed jaundice in his eyes and had no focus, and the hospital diagnosed him with acute renal failure, recommending urgent hemodialysis.
Mr. A was transferred to a university hospital on November 25th and underwent hemodialysis for about three days but did not regain consciousness.
The petitioner said, "The attending professor suggested taking brain scans, which showed that more than half of the brain appeared white. Four days earlier, the scans showed only a few white spots in two or three areas, but in just four days, more than half had turned white." She added, "The professor said, 'This is due to cerebral thrombosis. This is almost never seen,' and 'The chances of waking up are very slim. Please prepare yourself mentally.'"
Mr. A remains in the ICU, currently unconscious, receiving treatments including hemodialysis and tracheostomy intubation.
The petitioner lamented, "Our family of three was healthy and happy with no problems, but our household has been shattered by a single vaccine. Hospital bills have already exceeded 10 million won in just three weeks, which is very difficult."

She continued, "Fortunately, the university hospital reported the case to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency. Since this happened due to a government-recommended vaccine, shouldn't the state take responsibility for the high medical expenses? I earnestly ask for your consideration."
